Press Release:
Six Flags Great Escape is thrilled to announce the return of the traditional Oktoberfest, September 20-21 and 27-28. The popular event, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2007, is the quintessential celebration of fall in the North Country. Back by popular demand, this year’s event combines Bavarian culture with thrilling rides, live music and seasonal food and drink.
For two weekends this month, the theme park’s Fest Area will be alive with music, festive dancers, a huge selection of seasonal brews and tasty German foods. Guests will also have the chance to compete in a variety of games and challenges for great prizes.
On Saturday, September 20, the festivities will kick off with a ceremonial keg tap. Live bands will take a huge outdoor stage and performers who will delight guests in the Alpine Fest Haus. Artists include Daddio’s, Tony’s Polka Band and Ed Schenk & The Conti Kids.
Guests will enjoy traditional German-inspired fare such as bratwurst, knockwurst, kielbasa, sauerkraut, sauerbraten, and strudel, as well as Bavarian beverages and draft brews.
“Oktoberfest has always been a special celebration at The Great Escape and we are very excited to bring back the tradition,” said Eric Gilbert, park president, Six Flags Great Escape Resort Properties. “There is no better way to celebrate autumn in our region than with the thrilling combination of exhilarating rides, music, great food and drink.”
A visit to The Great Escape’s Oktoberfest would not be complete without a ride on one of the park’s thrilling roller coasters, the Giant Wheel, or other exciting rides which offer a spectacular birds-eye view of the park’s festivities and the spectacular Adirondack fall foliage.
During Oktoberfest, The Great Escape is open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are available in advance online for just $21.50. The event is free with a 2014 or 2015 Season Pass.
