Turnstile Tuesday – Storytown Train at Six Flags Great Escape

We head over to The Great Escape and Hurricane Harbor for Turnstile Tuesday this week. Slowing it down a bit we take a look at the Storytown Railroad.
The Storytown Train is a C.P. Huntington Train made by Chance Rides Inc. and runs partially along the same water way inside the park that the classic Swan Boats also use. Not only does it provide a relaxing ride and some good views of this family friendly park you also get a little park history along the way.
Great Escape originally opened as Storytown USA back in 1954. One of the signs along the way mentions that Storytown predated Disneyland by one year, Charles R. Wood opened Storytown USA, a five-acre theme park which commemorated Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes. Throughout the ride more park history is described and shown.
Fast forward to today the park is now known as Great Escape A Six Flags Theme Park. Even so the park still holds a lot of the original classic charm, like the Storytown Train, while being nestled in the Adirondacks by Lake George.
Are you a fan of classic train rides and other family friendly attractions at parks when you go? Anyone have a favorite go to classic that they enjoy? With Six Flags mentioning that they will be looking to invest in parks where they see growth potential could we possibly see a long awaited new coaster come to Great Escape? What’s your thoughts/comments?
Thanks to everyone who has liked and shared our Turnstile Tuesday posts so far. Also, don’t forget to message us if you’d like to share pics or video clips of your favorite rides for consideration in future posts. Please add to the discussion and leave your comments below!
